Civil registration notification dilemma!

    Hi all,

I'll try and keep this short enough.

Last year (February) myself and the OH put our notification in to marry in a civil ceremony for October of last year.

Due to many problems with my family (OH is not from Ireland, a lot of negativity and racism but I won't go into it) and then my OH father passed away and he had to go home for a month, so we did not go ahead with the marriage.

Stupidly, we never contacted the registrar to inform her.

Now all the family rifts are pretty much mended and we are now ready to get married. We don't have a huge lot of money so not booking a hotel (having reception in my fathers guesthouse which has a bar and function room etc), so not looking for a particular date but would love a summer wedding.

So I have a couple of questions:

    1) Because we previously gave our notification (albeit over a year ago) do we have to do it again and pay the fee again?

Also, we gave our notification in Wexford, but now we would like to get married near my dads guesthouse which is on the border of Roscommon and Sligo, so we have the choice of Leitrim, Roscommon or Sligo registry offices.

    2) Can we (if allowed) transfer our notification to those offices and get married there?

    3) Does anyone have any experience of the Sligo, Leitrim or Roscommon registry offices? Like what they look like.

    Any replies sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry if this seems unhelpful but just because your situation is so specific would you not just give the registry office a ring and ask them? I know they're hard to get through to but once you do they're fairly helpful.

AFAIK you will have to redo the appointment as the MRF is only vaild for 6 months after the date stated on it.

Thanks. Yeah I rang the Sligo office and they said we have to give the notification again. Going in next week for the appointment so hopefully have the ceremony last friday in August or in September :) Excited now.
