Video Problem

Hello, recently bought a motorola xoom and I have had no complaints about it so far, other than some of the apps, particularly the market app the market app seem to crash a lot but I'm sure this is to be expected considering that it's only on the market recently and will be ironed out in app and software updates.

Other than that, recently I've had some trouble with my youtube app, since about 2 days ago i havent been able to watch any videos on it since, or videos hosted by it, which is obviously a big problem given that so many other apps link videos hosted by youtube, it just goes to a black screen and becomes unresponsive, and if I try hitting a button it crashes after about 15 secs. I've tried restoring it to factory settings (can't seem to uninstall + reinstall it, says its a systems app) but if anything thats made it worse.

Have a similar problem if I try to watch a video on my msnbc app (don't think the videos are youtube hosted) and also if I try to play any of my downloaded videos on the mobo player app, it just goes to a black screen, (although it seemed to be working fine yesterday when I gave it a very brief test). Had a similar problem with the summer video player about a week ago. Any help appreciated, thanks

Humm that seems quite odd, did you try to remove the youtube app from the Xoom and re-download it from the android market again ?

Also are you using 3g or wifi when trying to stream video's ?

Couldn't uninstall it as such, it won't allow me as it says its a systems app, but I did manage to find a roundabout way of reinstalling it, made no difference. It's the Wifi version. Is there a way to restore it to factory settings? Not bothered about losing apps, can just reinstall them.

Yeah you can do a factory reset from the options, I don't have my Xoom to hand but it's there somewhere :P

I read a few moto xoom forums and haven't seen your issue before, maybe a factory reset would be best in this case....

You can't remove a system app but you undo updates.

Settings -> Applications -> manage applications
    Click the All tab
    Select YouTube
    Click - uninstall updates
    Restart the phone

This fixed the YouTube problem on a Galaxy S
