    Hi,

Had a bad exam last week, to such an extent I wrote absolutely nothing, as in a blank paper.

As if this was not bad enough I have just seen an old post which states that unless you have made a reasonable attempt on your paper you are not eligible for repeats.

    Is this true?

    Thanks!

I quote directly from the TCD site:

"In most cases, you need to have made a 'serious attempt' in the Summer to be allowed to sit Supplementals. If in doubt about your entitlement to Supplementals, consult your Tutor. "

Contact your tutor, I'm sure you'll be able to work something out.

Good Luck :) Hope you found this helpful.

    Thanks for that.

If there is anybody out there who has been in a similar situation I would appreciate an insight!

    Thanks!

I was in a somewhat similar situation..

Due to certain reasons I handed up practically no assignments this year. I freaked out a bit, emailed all my lecturers and asked them what the story was. They all said it was grand, but one said to email the course head and tell him as well. So i did, and he said the homework didn't matter, and he sent the same email to all my lecturers to make sure we were all on the same wavelength.

So your best bet is to email your tutor and course head asap

    Good luck! :)

Although this whole "must make a serious attempt" thing is a bit vague to me. What counts as a serious attempt? If people made a serious attempt then chances are they wouldn't fail in the first place. I'm sure there are hundreds of students who do very little work through the year and completely fail the exams. And they're hardly going to make them all repeat.

I'd say the serious attempt message is just to scare you a bit..

A guy told me that his friend went in and only did one question on the paper, and they gave him a non-satisfactory report for not taking the exam seriously, but because it was his first NS he was allowed do the repeats.

Talk to your tutor; they're paid to answer questions like this and follow up on your behalf.
