I know these threads are ten-a-penny on here, so apologies for adding another one!:o

I'm in the market for a new laptop/notebook and was thinking largely on going with an i5/6gb RAM combo if I can get it. What I'd mainly be using the thing for is interwebbing, watching movies via hard drive or disk, general messing about and games like Football Manager, Total War and strategy games in general. However, I have been considering branching out into PC gaming so I wouldn't mind something that was able to run the more high-end games if I needed.

I've noticed some machines have the i5 or i7 processors and pretty much everything else I'm looking for, but only 4gb or RAM. Will this impact on performance much? I'm aware you can upgrade at a later date if necessary.

I've been looking at Alienware, VAIO, Samsung and Toshiba laptops so far, but am unable to make up my mind. The budget is about 1k, though I might go slightly higher. The macbook pro looks a lovely machine, but the prices seem ridiculous.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone had!:) Thanks in advance!
