Not a show i've ever given thought to, you'd see it on repeat on E4 and stuff but never really watched it. I did a Boardsie search and seems a fair few regulars here loved it back in the day (um, twas only 3/4 years ago!)

Looking back, how does the show stand up?

i thought it was a great show, i watched it many 2 years ago after seeing an episode, then getting the box sets.
i think it stands up well (not really old anyway)

Brilliant show, really clever, well written and a fantastic take on classic Noir. Good soundtrack too.

Also, Kristen Bell is sooooo hot.

Got into it around two months ago, I often end up watching shows after they've finished

Watched the first two seasons back in February on a marathon session, one of the best shows I've seen this year

I'll get cracking on the rest soon enough

As said above, it's very clever, they have good writers

Very surprised you haven't watched this Richard. You really should. I'd imagine you'd be quite a fan of it, the first season especially.

Might go back and rewatch season 1 now myself.

First season was great, second season were decent, but third was dire!

For those who didn't know, they did have solid plans for a season 4, and even filmed this little trailer / snippet:

I always though Kristen Bell deserved some sort of award for her performance in it.. she was fantastic!

I'm rather disappointed now that I didn't get to see a 4th season now. Although what season 3 really lacked was a season plot/direction. The other seasons had main plot focuses which made them great tv.

Absolutely fantastic show.I only watched it last year but loved it so much that I watched all three seasons in a ridiculously short space of time.Thought it suffered in the third season (think it moved network?) but it still stands up.Veronica was one of the strongest and most interesting female characters I've ever seen, brilliantly written. The relationship with her Dad was a joy to watch and any time Jason Dohring was onscreen it made for great tv because he and Kristen worked so well together. Watch it!

The lack of an overall season 3 arc was intentional and a big reason as to why it got a third season. They attempted to incorporate a few mini-arcs into the show to make it easier for casual viewers to jump in at any time but it was a bit of a disaster.

I recently re-watched season 1 and 2 and it stands up really well but the 720 rips show up some horrible green-screen effects.

As others have said it's a great show, the first 2 seasons especially. Kristen Bell is excellent but there's a really strong support cast; Enrico Colantoni as her Dad is fantastic, Jason Dohring as the evil rich kid is a great foil for Veronica and Francis Capra puts in a good shift. The casting isn't all good though; Teddy Dunne is rubbish as the brother of the dead girl. Clever scripts, pretty people and cool music - all good.

The first few episodes of season 1 are a little weak but if you stick with it you're in for a great ride through to the end of season 2.

One of my favourite shows. RTÉ used to show it on week day afternoons if I recall correctly and I managed to get hooked on it, being a lazy student at the time. And then they stopped showing it just as it was leading up to the finale of season 2 I think, I was raging! Only time I have ever emailed RTÉ to complain about something! They showed the rest of the season in the end I think but by then I had already bought the boxsets.

Third season was a minor letdown, but still the fact it didn't get a 4th was a huge disappointment, especially after watching the video that was posted above.

Remember the uproar over RTE ceasing to show it although I had watched it when it first aired in the states.

Had it something to do with the Olympics or something like that? No idea why that popped into my head.

Yup, the CW picked it up after season two. Have to echo what everyone else has said though, brilliant show. Well written, great characters and Kristen Bell was absolutely brilliant in it. First two seasons, great, third season, not so good, but I think that was down to restrictions and the constant doubt of whether or not the show would continue.

There was talk of a movie for a while, but I honestly don't see that happening now. Kristen often tweets about it, I love that woman, she is the awesome. <3

You'd really enjoy it I think Richard, highly recommend giving season one a go.

It didn't really move network though....

And a movie ain't gonna happen at this stage either.

I thought the network was bought out and underwent massive changes including name and all that lark? That's what I thought at the time, though technically you're right I suppose!

I saw a few episodes when it used to be shown after Reaper (which started with promise, then went rapidly downhill) on RTE, anyways, I have to agree that Kristen Bell is extremely hot.

I loved it the first two season were my favorite season three was alright but I would have loved to see more made.. I'm surprised they didn't because I thought it had a big fan base!

I really want to watch it now :D

I think the thing was that it had a very loyal fanbase (and the critics liked it) but there weren't enough viewers in the grand scheme of things. It probably had big competition on the other networks.
Any by loyal, I mean loyal!
Upon the cancellation of the series, fans sent more than 10,000 Mars Bars to the CW, hoping that the network would reverse its decision and renew the series. Rob Thomas thanked the fans of the series for their efforts, saying "I love those people and they have been so good to me, but it's not going to happen.

Well....i fecked that up good and proper!, i read the Wiki page and (stupidly) read the spoilers for S1/2....duh!, no point now since i know who-dun-it!

It's still worth watching Rich.. the dialogue was always very witty and it's VERY entertaining.

The first 2 seasons far trumps most of the fare from The CW these days.

The revelation of Lily's killer was a cracker though.

    Awesome show.

Definitely in my top 5 of all time.

    Logan FTW!
