    Hi all,

I'll be applying for Advanced Entry into this course for next year and just wondering what people can tell me about it e.g hours, workload, classes etc.?

If I'm unsuccessful at getting Mol. Med., I'll probably get into Neuroscience, same questions as above if you know anything.

    Appreciate all replies!! :)

What kind of grades do you have? I'm currently an SF and according to our class survey's it's over subscribed so you'll need a 2.1 or a 1.1 to get in, similarly you'll need a 2.1 for Neuroscience. I'm unsure what way you're considered since you're transferring in from the outside.

Both courses are quite intense, you'll be looking at 20ish hours a week anyway and both are mismash courses so with Mol Med you'll do a lot of biochem and genetics with the Immunologists and Biochem streams and with neuroscience you'll do all neuroscience related material but there's a biochemical emphasis mostly from what I read and hear from older students.

My grades would have amounted to 60% in First Year and 55% in Second Year. I am transferring from a health related discipline where these results are considered quite respectable, but if you need a 2.1 or 1.1 regardless, maybe I should apply for different courses.

    Thanks for the reply!

As craguls said, these moderatorship options are quite popular this year, I think there are only 13 places in Molecular Medicine and 22 in Neuroscience. I would encourage you to apply anyway, you never know though, you may get a place.

My friend from Scotland who is studying Neuroscience in St. Andrews was trying to get advanced placement to Neuroscience in Trinity last year; they refused her and she had a 1:1 average. Not to frighten you off, but they do seem to have quite a high standard.

    Good luck! :)

Is this an undergrad or postgrad in neuroscience you guys are talking about?

I'm just finishing my final year exams in Psychology and have applied for an M.Sc in Neuroscience through the PAC system.

I just assumed it was the Undergrad because he said advanced placement (i.e skipping 1st and 2nd year).

    :)
