Fabric glue help!

    Hi all,

I got some fabric glue recently but when glueing fabrics, the glue does not dry nicely. It stains the fabric and you can see exactly where the glue is, its very visible. Would a hot glue gun be better? I am glueing fabric lining, so the material is very thin, not sure is that is the cause or not. I dont have the bottle to hand, but its a white bottle and the glue is white but dries clear.

    Please help!

I haven't used this but FabriTac is supposed to be very good. I know friends who use it with felt and it doesn't soak through. I have yet to see it selling here but it is online... Might be worth a shot?

Someone told me copydex might work for that kind of thing, very cheap to find out.

If you're not going to wash the fabric, you don't need fabric glue and you could maybe try double-sided sticky tape.
But if the lining is very thin I would think most liquid glues would show through it. Hot glue would be a bit lumpy. You could try applying your fabric glue with a paint brush so that you have a thinner layer. If you're sticking the lining onto a heavier fabric, apply the glue to that fabric instead of the lining. (Be sure to rinse out your brush in water every couple of minutes so the glue doesn't stick the bristles).
Or use wundaweb/bondaweb (the iron-on stuff). If your lining can't take the heat, cover with a clean tea-towel while ironing.

Does anyone know of anywhere to get fabric glue in Dublin. I have looked online but I cant find anywhere that isn't in America with high shipping.

    Thanks.

Try the craft department in any Hickey's shops, or the Dublin Woollen Mills beside the Hal'penny Bridge.
