Hey guys, thinking of purchasing a TM FiveSeven but I need to know if it can run on propane, and if I do run it on propane, will it decrease its "life expectancy"???

Yes you can. Of coure like any GBB it will lower it's life by dealing with higher pressure just like any GBB, even those designed for green and live a life fed on 134a.

I wouldn't worry about it tbh, go ahead. The temperatures here you need green all the time for GBBs. That and TMs latest GBBs the 5-7 and Px4 are a step up from their last designs which were by no means bad at all.

I've wanted to get one for a while now and after seeing one first hand lately I'm on a mission to pick one up very shortly along with the Px4.

Aye I know that feeling...they're both just such nice pistols. I've my PX4 coming to me, and the TM Five-SeveN fairly soon. I've been waiting a LONG time for both.

...damn you Chuck and letting me fire the Px4...making me broke :(

Marushin make an 8mm version of the Five-Seven on my list of things
to buy (but its down a good bit on the list as the thing is so damn fugly)

(A PX4 would take priority though if I had to choose between the two)

Right lads, just bought one about 5 mins ago from airsofteire, so lets hope that it does take propane and its expected to be what everyone has said...

    Thanks for the help :)

    Cheers,

You won't be sorry Airsofter 101 - I picked up one of these recently and used it for the first time last Sunday - it is a fantastic pistol. It'll deal with propane in Ireland - we're not exactly the warmest country - even in summer...

I use green gas in mine (propane + silicone oil) and have 0 problems with it :)

Just a note for those on the green and 134a topic...

The recomendation for 134a only in TM pistols comes from FPS in japan. Green gas pushes them over 1j, which is the legal limit in Japan, due to higher ambient temperature.

In the UK and Eire, this is not a concern. the gas is at lower pressure, and thus, green operates like 134a in Japan, producing the same 310-320fps.

In otherwords, Green gas is absolutely FINE in TM pistols, with very little if any reduction in lifetime.
I've run, and continue to run TM pistols on green gas in the uk with no ill effects. My TM sig, 3rd generation like the 1911, DE, and 5-7 is 3 years old, and still fighting strong. The general 'urban airsoft myth' is that green kills them. Its untrue.

Only one it holds true for, is 'unupgraded' Western Arms pistols. they DO just like 134a. :P

Just received my TM 5-7 today....
    WOW

Its amazing, the range and accuracy are superb and the magazine can run up to 3 fills(roughly 78 BB's) on one fill of PROPANE :O thats amazing :O

Have to say well done to the lads at airsofteire for shipping so quick and by sending a class pistol... Pics to follow...

Thanks to all for the help,

    Well worth buying.

    Thanks agian,
    Ro-Ro :)
