    Hey all.

I'm sure you're all aware of the numerous people about who do laptop repairs and the like but would anyone know of a company in Ireland that would refurbish a laptop in need of some cosmetic repair?

My Inspiron 9400 has seen some hard times and wouldn't mind getting it to look somewhat like it's old self.

Considering that Dell sell refurbished laptops - do they provide a service to refurbish a laptop -for- you?

    Thanks for this!

I'd be fairly certain that they do not. Usually a refurb would still be left with original external parts, that's why dell say when you buy a refurb that there may be scratches and scrapes on it.
Tbh, so long as it still functions correctly, i'd just leave it. Buying the parts from ebay and the likes would probably be expensive and a bit pointless.

Cheers for the reply. I reckon I'll stick with getting all the necessities repaired. The graphics card, power connection and screen have all started to fault lately. Although I have a new Samsung at the minute I wouldn't mind getting some life back into the old machine.

Just do your sums before getting these things fixed. I'd imagine all of the above could end up costing you hundreds.

Yeah I'm looking at no more than 250 being invested into the machine. It's a Core2Duo system with the best sound I've ever heard from a laptop. The new Samsung I have is very tinny, like most other laptops; so I wouldn't mind keeping this laptop, with smaller screen, for transport/work purposes and to somehow get my old one fixed for general music listening/photo editing.

That 17 inch screen is also quite nice when running well..!

Considering the age of the laptop, it would be daft to put that kind of money into it.

The cost of a replacement gpu alone is the same as a second hand core 2 laptop.

Anything more than 100 in to that laptop is a waste,
