Weird Pages problem

I'm using Pages and I'm writing dialogue. I'm using the single quotation marks, like this: 'example of single quotation marks', instead of the "double" and have run into a weird problem. Sometimes, the direction of the end quotation mark gets reversed, so that it's the same direction as the starting quotation mark, which is really annoying me! I can't figure out why it's doing it and I can't seem to reliably replicate it - sometimes it does it, and other times it doesn't even though the construction of the sentence might be exactly the same. When I first type the quote mark it'll be facing the right way, but then when I hit spacebar it reverses itself.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, it's kinda hard to describe and the format of the quotation marks on Boards means that both the start and end ones look identical, so it's hard to illustrate. Anyone know what's causing this issue?

No idea but go to Preferences and turn off smart quotes under auto correction to get rid of the weirdness?
