OK, Don't know if i should post or in the travel section, but anyway!

I am flying to Boston from dublin, but going via amsrerdam because i got really cheap flights, about €400 less than going direct with EI.

I booked with KLM, but the flight to amsterdam is with EI and the onward flight is with Delta. Never flown to the states unless direct from here, and ive never really flown on a code share so have a few questions.

if i am to check in online which website should i use?
or if at the airport do i go to an EI desk?
i assume i won't be allowed clear immigration in Dublin?
and whats Schiphol like for transferring, ive a 2.5 hour over lay?

    Thanks if anyone can help!

Check in with aer lingus, you won't be able to clear immigration in Dublin and that's plenty of time to transfer, schipol generally runs a smooth operation

Thanks for the quick reply. Aer lingus shouldn't have a problem issuing me my 2nd boarding card should they? in amsterdam ill just go through as normal there, and have to deal with immigration in boston, Anyone if that takes long??

If there is a flight in from anywhere in Africa/Carribean etc you could have probs, but usually it's fairly straightforward.

When I have flown via a European hub from Dublin to the US, I get my boarding card for the onward journey from the hub when I check in at the Aer Lingus desk in Dublin. I also check my baggage all the way through so that the next time I see it, it's at the US baggage claim.

If you read nkfox's post again.... He means you get your 2nd boarding card for the onward flight(2nd flight) , when u check in in Dublin,ie: you are checked in all the way. I would concur with that, have done it a few times myself!enjoy Boston, great city. Cheers!

One thing to note about Schipol is that they have a containment area (a room) in front of every boarding gate. When you arrive from Dublin you will have to Q up to get into this containment area where they put you through metal detectors, confiscate your liquids and X-Ray your bags. Moral of the story is don't sit in the boozer and run to the gate a couple of mins before departure. If you arrive at the gate too early there will be no security there and you can sit in the containment room, bear in mind you will be kicked out of it by security a couple of mins before boarding to go through the security checks. I find it tiresome myself to do but as you say KLM are offering dirt cheap fares to the US via Amsterdam at the moment. I regularly fly with them to Portland Oregon.

I absolutely HATE PDX to AMS. Done it a few times and would genuinely only do it again if it was my only option.
