Could a tablet replace your laptop?

Been looking at Android tablets recently, mainly because I've a bit of money saved up and I'm bored, I don't actually need one.

While in the past when I was a student I may have used my laptop for more than I do now, these days I really just use it for web browsing, email, downloading torrents and managing files on some external hard drives. Up until recently I presumed that I wouldn't be able to get a bittorrent client for Android, but today I went looking for one. I found a few, and downloaded Ttorrent for my Desire. Downloaded at 350mb file straight to my phone. It was the lite version so there were a few restrictions, mainly the download speed was capped to 250kb/s. Now I don't think it's as good or as fast as desktop clients like Vuze, but it certainly works. So that got me thinking, what do I use my laptop for that an Android tablet wouldn't be able to do?

I write some code from time to time so I'm guessing I'd still need Windows for that. Even then with a full keyboard available for the Asus Transformer, some kind of IDE could be released at some stage. Also I haven't checked what document editors are available for Honeycomb but I'd guess whatever there is are miles behind Microsoft Office. Having said that, I can't remember the last time I needed to write/edit a document at home.

So when I do get a tablet (would plan on getting something like the Transformer with a keyboard dock), I'm wondering how often I'd actually use my laptop. Does anyone else think they could almost ditch Windows for an Android tablet?

For simple users yes. I have a tablet (Xoom), laptop and desktop.

At home I use the tablet most of the time for web and email (I'm on it now). I create spreadsheets, docs, ppts and code. I couldn't do that as easily on the tablet.

For my folks though, they have a laptop and the tablet could replace their laptop easily for what they do.

Printing from a tablet might be an issue.

I find some stuff more comfortable on the Xoom. Radio, watching video and reading docs are easier for me on the Xoom than the tablet. Surfing on the internet is about the same.
