Potential tourism boost if we win Eurovision?

Ok I know our winning is a remote, remote possibility, but it's still a possibility.

So if we DID win, how much of a boost would the economy get by way of tourism from hosting it next year? People come to it from all over Europe, could potentially be gigantic... I presume the O2 would be used as the Point has always been used in the past?

Ireland are second favourites at the moment. It will give a seasonal boost but I doubt it would leave a lasting positive effect.

Next up... can Jedward secure a rate cut for Ireland?

Jedward are a joke and that they have reached the level of popularity they enjoy says alot about the mentality of the modern Irish.

But regardless of my opinions on such insipid nonsense, this is an economics discussion forum, Jedward belong elsewhere.

There will be no tourist spin-off, the early-mid 90s wins were important and they helped put Ireland on the map again after decades of slumber/terrorist association. Thats not the case now, no one needs reminding of Irelands existence.

If Europe does perceive us to be like Jedward, perhaps we could gain a fool's pardon for our debts.

Jedward are a services export, and so illustrate the way forward.

That we like to laugh? It's just light entertainment, not the Nobel peace prize! Anyway Jedward did pretty well (yes, sadly I watched it...), so perhaps that says as much about Europeans and or sense of humour as it does about Ireland.

I always thought their hair is just asking for something like a machete to be taken to it. :pac:

I dont like jedward or their music if you can call it that but I thought they were brillant. They absolutely love performing so they do and they did good last night. I'm glad we weren't made a show of and came last. Jedward is a load of rubbish, and the fact they did ok shows just how trashy eurovision is.

    Who came last?
The likelihood that hardly anybody will know from the top of their heads generally means that coming last doesn't make a show of anyone. It's just a song contest, coming second or second last doesn't matter in the slightest. How has this thread survived IE!

Initial premise isn't going to come to pass. And while discussions of bondholder haircuts belong in this forum, tone-deaf twin haircuts do not. Locked.
