second monitor

    Hey if I plug in a second monitor on ubuntu it acts like having a second screen, however I would prefer to simply clone my laptops screen on this second screen. I did this but it turns off the laptops screen, anyway to leave em both on?

    Open a terminal and run:
    xrandr -q

    This will help identify your screens. Make a note of them.

    Then run the following with your screen identifiers inserted instead:
    xrandr --output LVDS --auto --output VGA --auto --same-as LVDS

    you can change monitor settings in pref>monitors !
