Conifer Bush's (Growing Tips)

I have planted these conifers on each side of my garden so that they will eventually be bush's. (Privacy)

Can anyone give me a tip on how I can encourage them to grow a little quicker?

What would be good nutrients and can I absolutely drown them without killing them?

Also is cutting open used tea bags and spreading the remains as compost a good idea? I have seen people doing it before but just not sure weather or not it will be suited to these.

    Thanks in advance!
