Starting work in an Engineering office Monday week so I'm looking for somewhere good to get kitted out with work-wear. I have only ever worked in retail or on site before so don't have any suitable clothes. Not sure if I need full suits or just trousers and shirts so could anyone recommend a good place to look that won't break the bank and what to look for. Thanks

Wear a suit the first day. Don't buy much else til you've gone in and seen what everyone else is wearing. No point buying a load of suits if no one else is wearing them!

    +1

Although you could certainly buy several decent shirts, belts and one or two good pairs of shoes regardless.

M&S and Best (when on sale) do some nice shirts at reasonable prices, 30E+

I would avoid a few places such as Jack & Jones, Zara, Burton etc. From previous experience their office wear stuff, although cheaper, is pretty poorly made and doesn't last very long.

If you're willing to search through loads of rails then TKMaxx can give you some great bargains on shirts, shoes and belts.

If you want something a bit more upmarket try T.M. Lewin and more upmarket again try BT, Louis Copeland or Thomas Pink.
