As some of you guys here know; I broke my neck last Saturday, playing a "fun" end of season 7s game.

I just want to post my admiration and appreciation of the staff of the Mater National Spinal Injuries Unit and the Orthopaedic Ward of Tallaght hospital. These undersung and hard working people made the most frightening and traumatic time, of my life, as smooth and comfortable as was possible.

I received the best care possible and can not thank them highly enough.
Discharged today with a great prognosis and a bright future and, thanks to these caring people, never lost hope and stayed positive.

Will never be able to thank them enough.

Great to hear that the outlook is good for you, all the best for the future :)

The people in these specialist units really do make all the difference in each life that they touch. I've had some dealings with the folks in the Mater Spinal Unit and can only echo what has been said above.

    Once again, all the best!

    best of luck norrie

i wish you a speedy recovery

with rugby i think you have to play it at full whack.

in "fun" or semi contact games in training you get such a mis match of people playing it i.e. people playing like its a world cup final and people playing like its non contact.

I say fun as it was not a leinster branch comp.
No one went out to cream anyone. This was just a pure accident.

I went to tackle and he sverved to off load and his thigh moved in front of my face at the last second.

I tell ya though, I have never been so scared in my life as the first few hours after being told the the vertabra was fractured.
Absolute testament to the professional staff that I managed to not lose it then

Great that you have an upbeat attitude about the whole thing, no doubt it will make the healing process easier. Best of luck with the recuperation.

    Good luck with the recovery.

If you don't mind me asking - you can still walk or will be able to right?

I can indeed walk. Am so lucky, have no nerve or disc damage.
Going to be in a brace for next few months and looks like a 100% recovery.
