This has been sitting on the shelf for a while. It was shot in 2009. I had a quick read through the script a while ago and (as the trailer shows) it's pretty much a word for word remake in most places. On paper they haven't changed anything worth talking about. I mean, seriously, why bother? It's not like the original was a big hit. It wasn't in a different language, either. In fact, the only reason I can see for them wanting to remake this is to transplant it to America, presumedly because they've come to the conclusion that Americans don't like films that aren't set in America.

If I want to see a remake of Straw Dogs I'll watch Home Alone.

Heh, even in a remake of Straw Dogs they can squeeze in some CGI in the form of the deer. :pac:

    The
    rape scene
in 'Straw Dogs' is still very unsettling, even after 40 years.

The remake just looks like bog-standard revenge fare.

    Pass!

I think it looks good, probably because I've not seen the original, which I will seek out and watch before i go near this.

Rod Lurie is a strange choice as director

Alexander Skarsgard, James Woods, Dominic Purcell and Walton Goggins are also in the cast

Looks pretty poor(though might be ok for people who haven't seen the original), and sticking so close to the original there's no point in making it.
Marsden's even apparently wearing the exact same clothes as Dustin Hoffman at the end of the film!

The funny thing is they are marketing this film the exact same way they marketed the original, i.e., completely misrepresenting what the film is about. It didn't go down too well in 1971, and unless Lurie has watered it down, I don't think it will today either.

    bosworth is an awful choice

You can start a review of any of her movies with that sentence.

Indeed the fact that he gives I am Legend 9/10 is enough to completely
disregard and sign off to the bin ANY reviews he does...
