Has anyone else noticed all the yellow Xs on the drains recently in town? Unless i've just been blind before, it started happening around... month ago? Now nearly every single one has one.

    Here's a picture from a friend of one http://i.imgur.com/VsPqa.jpg

Edit: ok so they were Xs but some look like a negative spanner like this

It's to mark the ones that have been closed up in advance of the Queen's visit.

    Yeah that's weird.

I've noticed lots of police around town recently, it's like there's something going to happen or something?

They're outlines of spanners, in what I'm guessing is someone's failed attempt at modern art.

Correct. There's been large groups of guards gathering around manholes for a couple of weeks now. Checking the drains for sneaky IRA members that may be lurking down there before they seal them up, and such.

Its a highly sophisticated operation beyond the comprehension of mere citizens such as ourselves.

/heads to shop to buy yellow spray paint.

One day, the army were there too. Must have been a particularly complex manhole
