    Hello,

    Can anybody remember this match: I think Italy were playing. They had the kick off and the out half chiped the a ball a yard, picked it up and booted it into touch. So the game started with a scrum They reckoned they had a superior scrum and wanted to put marker down.

    Any ideas what match it was??

    Italy V Ireland but I think the ball just didn't go 10 and the scrum was called, dont think the ball was regathered and then kicked to touch. Cant remember the year.

    It was deliberate, Italy wanted to put down a market and did it on purpose.

    I never said it wasnt deliberate.
    picked it up and booted it into touch. So the game started with a scrum

    I was merely pointing out that the piece about kicking it to touch didnt happen if my memory serves me correctly.

    Pretty sure it was Ireland vs Italy in Croke Park in 2008, OP. Italy dinked the ball about 2 yards at kick off thinking they would butcher us in the scrum.
