i am about to start a new job, 24 hour ****s, earning 12.95 per hour, from 11am till 12 midnight and from midnight till half 7 i would get 40 euro and then back onto 12.95 per hour till 11 am again......i will be working at least 2 shifts a week, maybe 3, depending...

would anyone be able to tell me how to figure out what i would be taxed?

You need to provide more information for a precise answer:
    1. It's not clear how much you'll earn per week- are you doing day shifts only? Night shifts only? A mixture? Without knowing your gross earnings, the tax details can't be sorted out
    2. You'd also need to provide your tax details (credits and cut-off point) for 2011.
    3. If you were/ were not working since January in another job that would also have an impact on the calculation.
Alternatively, to do a quick calculation yourself you could download my spreadsheet at http://taxcalc.eu/monthlyss or try Karl Grabe's java form at http://taxcalc.eu
