Got a mechanic to look over my '96 mk3 golf before nct next week. Major oil leak popped up three weeks ago after oil change, expensive to fix.also emissions are high which might mean work on cat converter.

Long and short of it is, there really isn't any point in putting money into this,it drives great and I'm doing 200 miles a week on it (oil needs regular topping up mind), its a tidy car apart from these issues. With nct about to run out, do I sell this for parts or is there much scope for diy mechanics that would buy it and get it moving again? if it had nct and no issues then it would prob sell for around 1k

I know sweet f.a. about who would be interested in a car in this condition so would like some advice on what way to sell this and what i would expect to get for a car for parts. its a 3 door, silver, 1.4l petrol mk3 golf.

Cheers, obviously I'm expecting a few smart arse answers here lads, but if I could get a bit of sound advice in between then nice one :)

€100 to €200 as is unless a right numpty fancies it.
Donedeal it for €250 and see is there any interest, if not drop price to €150, someone will take it eventually.

You could throw it up on vagdrivers.net as well, should get some genuine interest there.
