Since Saturday 21st might be our last day on earth, what better way to spend it than in a pub! The goodly citizens of A+A have been graciously invited by the Dublin Skeptics In The Pub to their literally once-in-a-lifetime special Doomsday Party, upstairs in the Lord Edward Pub, just across the road from Christchurch (good views guaranteed), starting at half six on Saturday 21st. Dress is casual, but something appropriate (tinfoil beanie, familyradio tee-shirt, "The End of the World is Nigh" sandwich board etc) will make the evening one to remember for the rest of your life. Which may be just a few hours :)

The Dublin Skeptics in the Pub's page on facebook is here:

    http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=204710146647

and the event page is here (24 people confirmed to date):

    http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=196496877059605

If anybody's on for it, just post here, request to join the group, and confirm attendance there too.

BTW, in the offchance we're still around on Sunday morning, there's a followup event -- Lack of Judgement Day -- for anybody without a hangover.

Once in a lifetime? Don't we have a couple of more doomsdays coming up.

    There are always more doomsdays.

Ah, I'll be in Tipperary on the 21st, I'll let you know if it explodes.

The thing is, are the Christians/Catholics in Ireland even aware of this? There isn't a peep out of the folks in the other forum...

    Super Adventure Club ?

Mmmm I don't know what you're referring to.

But anyways, as you can see from my edit I'll actually be in Tipperary on the 21st. My flight from Kenya is on the 21st, due to land in Ireland the same day... which means that I could be in mid-air during the re-animation or resurrection or apocalypse or whatever the fcuk is happening.

What if I'm flying over the Mediterranean when it happens, where there's no god? I'll be over international waters.

I think I'll check the bible, it might have instructions for those on airplanes at the time of reckoning.

Sorry Father, I was kind of referring to your username. It's just when you said you were headed Kenya way, I thought of the Super Adventure Club

That's much better, I was looking for a video, alas I had no luck.

    Good Work.

Well I've put myself in the 'Maybe' column on the FB page, will ask a few buddies along. Though I must agree with Zillah, attending an actual Rapture party would be highly amusing. Worst case scenario: Rapture actually happens, you get a room full of wallets, phones and unattended beer.

Have some more Super Adventure Club

I'm going to see out this life by getting pissed on Saturday at a house party.

And if not, I will celebrate life by getting pissed on Sunday in Dun Laoghaire :D

Rapture isn't a Catholic thing, as far as I know.

I might pop along, if I'm in Dublin, the Lord Edward is a nice pub.

    Thanks guys. I am honored.

I may even be able to attend!

Also, the 21st is Heineken Cup final day. I hope the rapture is after the game.

If I go the world will end that night and there will be nothing rapturous about it. My wife would slowly evicerate me using a spoon for missing our wedding anniversary...

At least you'll get a birds eye view of the lucky few as they make their ascent heavenwards. :D

Well, there are so few people who believe this stuff that the chances of being shot down by an upwardsly-accelerating christian must be pretty much zero.

Wonder what happens when they run out of breathable oxygen beyond around 25,000 feet?

In my haste I clicked that I would be there but sadly I'm not in the country at the moment.... :p

Which leads me to a question.... Will The Rapture respect timezones? Will I see it coming since I'm an hour behind?

If the site suddenly goes quiet, I'll worry :)

Good luck with the meet up, have one for me!

    DeV.

Ps: whoever thought up the Lack of Judgement meetup name was clearly divinely inspired :)

So like I said I have to be at another event that night. But if any of you skeptics are still about later I should be in Doyles near Trinity.
    Robin has my number.

    Late breaking news!

Fancy dress optional -- tinfoil beanies, religious gear, Free Harold Camping tee-shirts, lifejackets, parachutes, whatever works :)
