Oh I don't know what is better the madness of the Eurovision or the madness of this.

Please read and have a chuckle.

I actually think it is a good punishment for chabal and it would be interesting

I agree, I think its a good idea as well. Put him in their shoes and see how he likes it. Thinking outside the box, I quite like it.

I thought as a ref you would support this Tim, seeing as you have been on both sides of the whistle and understand better than most how unwarranted a lot of the crap refs get is.

    its a very fitting punishment.

calling the ref useless and bitching and moaning about him after a game is way too easy to do.

the ref will not get everything right, no one can, putting a player in as a ref they will see this.

    excellent idea

It's a great idea. I once took a minor injury in training, and decided, instead of playing, to ref our friendly game, which we normally play without a ref, on a 'honest call' basis. That one experience really opened my eyes to how difficult it is to properly referee a game. What seems obvious in play to a player is not always visible or obvious from the referee's position. I would guess that a couple of games as referee will do the same for Chabal, give him some appreciation for how difficult it is.

The reffing in some T14 games is pretty ropey, but totally agree... Whining about it to the media afterwards is lame.

I think every elite rugby player should be made to attend reffing courses and do a few underage games.

  • That is some phenomenal punishment. Fair play to the Commision. Reckon the game will have a serious crowd too!

Very clever. It's a pity more players don't go into reffing voluntarily.

I'm sure Rolland's success was helped by his experiece of high-level rugby.

Would be great if they did that to some of the big moaners in soccer like Sir Alex, Mourinho, Wenger....actually a very long list

John Lacey is x- Munster. There's a few other AIL refs who were x - AIL as well.
I think it would be very funny if Chabal did the reffing and then starting using ref jargon after it. Telling refs they need to use downtime more and telling folk not to refer to rules but the law.

    You just never know...

I just can't imagine him screaming "lachez!, lachez!" at little kids. They'll run a mile! :D

Reffed a tag game once where one of the female players was constantly bitching and moaning.

next game was a dead rubber so i made her ref it, she gave me that whistle back after the game and apologised for her behaviour, no problem with her after that.

    good idea, a practical punishment.
