I just built my PC fully, when I was done and flicked all the switches and used the front power button and it didnt work, I then pressed the power button on the motherboard and everything turned on, will the power button work when the Operating System is installed or did I do something wrong?

I would say double check your wiring.

I just remember when doing mine I c*cked up on some of the case wiring and the power button wouldn't work for me, so it may be worth just double checking.

Is that the MSI P67A-GD65 B3 Intel P67 Express - Socket 1155 Motherboard you are using Trekmad?

I was thinking of buying one and wondered what you thought of it?

@ AGB Ghost, I'd say either the pins are not making a good connection or they are the wrong way round on the Mobo connector.

Flip the power button connection around. If you have this:

    1 | 1
    2 | 2

    You want:

    1 | 2
    2 | 1

If that doesn't fix it, try swapping the power and reset connections (if they still don't work, try flipping them again)

It's happened to me quite a few times. At this point I don't really bother figuring out which way they go; it's faster just to try turn the computer on.

No its the P67A-GD55 version, to be honest I'm not the best person to comment on it as I'm new to the game and the build was spec'd by someone else here on this forum. Bit like being given a Ferrari but not knowing how to drive it fast yet :o that big shiny OC button still scares me :D

the power connection is just a button so direction of connection should not matter as long as you are using the correct pins, all is does is create a short, you could always disconnect the power button wiring and short the connection your self, this will tell you if it is a problem with the switch or the mother board.
