Liverpool to Holyhead....2hrs?

    Bit of a panic here.

I've just secured tickets the Liverpool game in Anfield on Sunday but I must be back in Dublin the same evening.

The game should finish just before 1800 and the latest Stena ferry from Holyhead sails at 2030. It's a 2 hour drive from Liverpool to Holyhead (time estimated by Google Earth) and there'll be a bit of downtime getting out of the ground and getting to the car and then the 2 hour drive.

Am I insane to think that I might make the 2030 ferry at Holyhead?

If I'm late will Stena facilitate me on the next ferry at 0200?

Has anyone any other suggestions? Air travel is way to expensive given the travel date is so close.

Pretty tight, 2 hours is about right for the drive, but you could do it quicker. Risk is getting out of Anfield and into the car and onto the motorway. You'll have to park up about a mile out and the leave before whistle imo, if you get out and hoof it back to car quickly you'll beat the crowds and be ok imo.

I know. I'd have a problem with that - depending on the scoreline.

Yeah, bit of a nightmare. You could just get out of your seat and get near the exit I guess, depending on where you are in stadium. If in the kop you are on the right side to get out and to car and through tunnel quickly. If not you'll have a tough choice.

bear in mind you would need to be booked in for the stena ferry at 30mins before dep at the latest.

But, another option you may be able to check is the P&O ferry

They have a service from Liverpool to Dublin and one I think leaves liverpool Sunday night at 9pm - not sure how long the sail is as I generally go through holyhead myself....

Might be worth a look though

I think you could be pushing it there.

If you leg it from the stadium before FT, and get to your car which would have to be close, you may do it but if you get caught up in any holdups, then you are in trouble.

Is there not another ferry at about 2am that will get you in at about half five. Any good?

getting away from the ground and out of Liverpool will be your challenge, the A55 is pretty fast bit of road, of course I would never ever condone speeding......................
