Looking to start consistantly using the same ball for a while instead of using anything old ball i grab out of the bag.Im an 18 handicapper with a slow to medium swing speed. As a rough guide i was measuring 85-90 mph on a simulator with the driver.Just basically looking for distance, spin around the green is not a factor.Any help greatly appreciated lads.

Srixon AD-333. I swing faster. Liked the ball alot but find I'm getting alot more from Taylormade burner's. They seem to respond to more swing speed!

    Bridgestone e-6.

If you are thinking of trying a ball then checking these out is a must! I recently started to use them having previously used Nike PD long and Titleist NXT's. All of a sudden I started to develop some touch on the green. The other balls were removed from my bag.

Anyone tried the Bridgestone E7, any good?

E6 is very similar to the AD333 balls very good IMO. Not too sure if the e7 is as good as have not played that much with them but the E6 and AD333's are great balls for the money.

Good budget alternative for an 18HC golfer

Nike golf balls - bottom of the barrell in my book.
Cheap as chips for a reason bud.
Invest in TM, bridgestone of ProV1 - you'll not regret it (unless you bang one or two over the fence that is :D:D!)

In the context of distance golf balls they are pretty decent. Cheap and reliable.

Am I right in saying that if you have tendency to slice a lot of drives then high spin golf balls like ProV1 or Srixon Z-star's are a bad idea? Ball control in and around the green is all well and good but if it's taking you 4 shots to get to the green then it's a bit immaterial.

pal, forget about distance, what you need is a bit of nip around the greens.

Exactly, pro v1 r out of the question due to the additional spin just looking for distance and less spin

The best area of my game is around the green,no need for any extra NIP

Just worth noting that zstars and pentas don't spin as much off the driver as v1s so they are a decent alternative if only an occasional slice kicks in.

Nothing gos further right that the number 1 ball in golf

The way the rough is up at my home course these days that extra nip is almost impossible to get unless you are on the fringes. Almost takes the advantages of the sharp wedges and soft ball out of the equation.

Also the way the wind is blowing the last few weeks a low boring rock seems the be the play. I have dozen v1's and 6 Z Stars in the bag and I have been playing distance Srixons the last two weeks. Any time I'v put a soft ball into play I couldn't get any advantage out of it so I'm waiting until this wind calms down a bit to pull them. Might slip the ol green keepers a few bob the take an inch off the rough too ;)

Not sure how it's distance stacks up but the Bridgestone E6 is marketed as imparting less side spin on drives thus keeping it straighter. Its a 3-layer ball too and not pricey at all. Playing the E5 currently and they are a terrific ball. Not a distance ball tho

i'm looking to try out the E7, cant seem to see it for sale any place in Cork. Tried Nevada Bobs and American Golf and neither had it. Probably have to buy online.
