Im getting a UPC Digital + box next week, the one were you vcan record stop live TV.

    I have a
Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 23-inch LED backlit monitor
The Only Connections it as are
    1 DVI IN
    1 HDM1 1
    1 Audio ou
    1 Digital Audio Out

My question would be, can i connect this Monitor to my new UPC box and use it as my TV screen?
Im hopeing to use this as the tv for the Digital + box only.

If i carnt would there be any conections convertors i could get to do this?
Or am i just flogging a dead horse?

The Digital + box has just SCART connectors (if it's the same as the one I have - Thompson) whereas your monitor has DVI and HDMI inputs only so it's going to be difficult. It's possible to get SCART to DVI converters but they're expensive. The UPC HD box has HDMI but it will cost you an extra €5 per month but you'll get the HD channels and your monitor can do 1920 x 1080.

The UPC self install set top box also has HDMI but doesn't record. Even if you manage to connect the TV box to your monitor you won't have any sound as your monitor doesn't have speakers.

One possibility would be to buy a TV card with composite or component or s-video inputs for your computer and connect the Digital+ box via a SCART to composite/s-video converter (around €10) to the TV card and use Windows Media Centre to output to your monitor (assuming your using a Microsoft OS).
