I hear my voice totally different in my head. I don’t like my message minder voice or if I hear myself back on a video. But everyone gets me and my little sis confused on the phone and say we sound the exact same. I like her voice but not mine for some reason….

Can't say I do. Flat west of Ireland thing going on.

I thought that if you heard yourself talking, then it could make you stammer. I don't know - that's just what I heard.

From my point of view, I couldn't care less what I sound like. There's no sound on boards.ie ;)

Yes, have to say it is fairly spectacular.

In my head my voice sounds nice and rugged yet can coherently and intelligently phrase my sentences.

In real life I sound like a diseased donkey shooting scuttery shìte out of it's mouth while a crazy screaming Scotsman smacks a bag of wailing cats against it.

after a night on the whiskey, yes, I hear it all the time at work so dont have the "I dont sound like that!" thing anymore

Doesnt bother me either way. I've a neutral enough voice I think...
Always think it sound really high when I hear it back but apparently it doesnt really. or my friends lie. Either way im good at denial :)

    In my own head, yes.

Recorded, not so much...But I'm getting more and more used to it!

I like it when I am speaking

I sound like a Knacker when I hear it played back to me

I like what it sounds like when I speak. If I listen to a recording of myself though it's like "What?! I DON'T sound like that!!!!!"

Last week a 4 year old made fun of my "squeky baby voice and lisp". I couldn't really argue with someone nearly 20 years younger than me! CRINGE!!

My voice has been described as audible chocolate.
I especially like the sound of it after a heavy night. It adds a nice raspyness to it. Like that chocolate with cornflakes it in, Ritter or something. That's the texture of it.

People often tell me I have a lovely voice which I don't think I have ever said to anybody. When I hear it on tape I sound nothing like that in my own head and don't particularly like it.

    +1!

Everyone else loves* my voice tho

When I say 'love' I mean 'tolerate'......actually when I say 'tolerate' I mean 'finds it slightly annoying'......when I say 'finds it slightly annoying' I mean 'hate'....with a passion :pac:

Same as most people. I like it in my head but when I hear it recorded I sound totally different. Much like when I'm singing karaoke :p

My voice doesnt really bother me, although people can never tell where I'm from. Makes me chuckle.

I sound very like the boring priest from Father Ted, so no, no i dont :(

I wish I had a thicker accent and more of a drawl to my voice, as it is I sound very neutral.

I think I could better pull off not being able to sing if it had those qualities.

I love my voice because I.... am MATT BERRY!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,341 ✭✭✭El Horseboxo

Love it. It's a Dublin accent but i pronounce some words like how a Mexican-American would. I tend to drag out the end of sentences so i'm told.

I think its has something to do with your inner or outer ear the way you precieve your voice ,or it could be just wax or some sh*t in your ears?

I was on a phone call for work yesterday with 1 guy from India and 1 guy from Trinidad.

For some reason the guy from India couldnt make out who was talking, he kept confusing me with my Cork accent and other guy with a Trinidad accent :eek::confused:

 I like having a hybrid Cork-Afro Caribean accent  Ya mon! whats the craic? like, ya langer!

Buy a cheap Dictaphone in Argos and keep recording and listening to your voice over and over. You'll get used to your own voice and your diction will improve.
