Got this email about the closing and privatisation of media services.

Safe to assume they were running at a loss that can no longer be maintained, so the new 'vendors' who come in will have higher prices?

    Media Services Centre
    Arts/Science Building (Concourse)
    National University of Ireland, Galway
    University Road
    Galway, Ireland

    May 11, 2011

    To all our customers

We will be closing the Media Services Centre on June 22 2011.

A new vendor will take over the existing Media Services Centre space located on the Concourse in the Arts/Science Building on June 27 2011.

The Media Services Centre webpage located at http://www.nuigalway.ie/media_services/ will be updated on June 13 2011 to inform customers of the new vendor's name and contact information and directions regarding planning/submitting jobs from June 27.

I want to thank you for your past business and tell you how much we have enjoyed having you as a customer. Please don't hesitate to call if there is anything I can do for you before June 22 2011.

    Sincerely,

    Brenda Maguire
    Office Manager

I printed out colour pages there that one time. A really sad loss for the NUI Galway campus :(

Such a shame to hear this is closing. It was such a central place for us to buy Handouts. I used to get my projects copied and bound there too. A mighty woman called Rita used to be there, she was fantastic to our class.

Ok I detect a lot of sarcasm here. Granted, I only used it for buying lab notes during 1-3rd year and binding theses this year. Great service to have for students IMO.

I bet its going to be the place across the road from the arts building taking it up.

We had to buy a booklet there for economics for 13 euro.

If you didn't buy it within a week, you'd loose 1.5% of your year's marks. Good riddance I say (to the Media Services Center, not my 1.5%).

I'm pretty sure that was enforced by your course not media services...

Ah I was only messing. It's a shame to see it closing. It will be reopening under a new crowd though, right? The women who worked in there were lovely, it must be said.
