Noticed when going past my local on Sunday that they've reduced this to €8 now in Xtra-Vision.

    A little off Topic but...

I think Xtra-Vision must be under a bit of pressure. Would they not start to try to get in to the Online Movie streaming / Rental Space?
No real Irish online versions available like Netflix or Lovefilm or AceTrax

big gap there at the moment

They are under serious pressure, they are owned by blockbuster and they are bankrupt,
    Check out todays news LINK
Troubled DVD rental chain XtraVision is due back before the High Court later.

An interim examiner was appointed to the business, which has 1,300 employees in 180 stores, two weeks ago.

Today the court will be asked to extend court protection from its creditors.

The company insists the vast majority of the stores - all of which remain open - are profitable, despite problems with high rents and a drop in revenues.

An investor, Birchall, is prepared to pump €6m into the DVD rental chain and it is being argued that the company can emerge from insolvency.

sad to see how high rent and council charges are forcing businesses under. hopefully will remain open as that is alot of people out of work.

Blockbuster sold it a couple of years ago.

They are not owned by Blockbuster and they are in examinership, not bankrupt, which is a completetly different thing

How landlords are still getting away with upward-only rent reviews the way business is at the moment is beyond me.

Anytime I pass an Xtravision its empty, they're like ghost stores.

The web site looks better now, seems a bit buggy though .... www.xtravision.ie
