Really don't like this thing at all. Said I'd do it for a friend who's in the Philippines as a favour.. Having never actually made a website before. So this is my first and last attempt I'd say.

    http://nctraveltour.com/

Now, I know the logo is bad but it's on business cards by now and can't be changed.
The Services page is being worked on.. Waiting for the friend to write the text.
I don't have the time or have any desire to go and redo the site.
Any navigation issues will be fixed, I really only need tips on appearance and layout here.

Any quick suggestions to help make the best of a bad situation is what I'm after.. Thanks.

The large horizontal bar going behind the slideshow looks very clunky. I'd consider putting in vertical lines at the edge of the content space going all the way down the page instead, and allowing the slideshow itself to divide the top section and the content area.

You should make the slides clickable so the user is directed to the relevant page, with a nice overlying graphic prompting them to click. If you make the slideshow area bigger, space shouldn't be a problem in doing this.

The logo does look a bit dodge alright. And I hate any names that are acronyms...what does NC stand for? Who cares? etc. But if the owner considers himself stuck with it because it's on some business cards (not a good enough reason imo, your logo is the single most important bit of advertising in terms of investment to impact ratio!), then I guess it's not your problem!

"Great travel and tours" is too specific...refer to the geographical area you're specialising in. "Great Eastern travel and tours" as a very basic example. (I don't know if they just do Eastern destinations but it would appear so from their site)

Linked with that issue is the "What services do we provide"? This should answer my question, but currently it doesn't. This section should float to the right of the content space, there's loads of empty space to its right.

It should also look a lot better if the bottom of that section was in line with the bottom of the section to the left...there is currently too much empty space under the "N-C Great travel and tours..." block of text.

"young, reliable and experienced"..."young" and "experienced" kind of contradict each other.

Remove the comments functionality from all the sections that are showing "no comments". It's even showing up in the blue bar here; http://nctraveltour.com/?p=174

Same goes for the About the Author bit

I don't know if you're looking for comments on the content but I'd need way more info and reassurance before booking something, than what is on the page I just linked to.

Put the contact details (email and phone number would do) at the very top of the page, it'll greatly increase the trustworthiness of the site.

For the list of destinations, I would put more focus on images with a short summary of the destination describing what is so good about it. I want to know about the place itself when choosing somewhere to go to, scanning between various options. The details can be communicated afterwards to close the sale when I've been enticed in to a particular page by nice pictures and a snappy description. Make it about the place first, and the service second.

    Hope some of that helps

It does help alot... It's 1am with me so I'll have a look at them tomorrow.

The company is registered NC Great Travel and Tours and has an office so no changes possible.. The name is something got to with the owner and I personally think it's a crap name.
The work they do is mostly corporate contracts but they reckon a website would be a good idea to have.. Just for professionalism. So overall, no one is too worried about the site thank god. It's kind of a filler site to accompany the business rather than a place to find new business if you know what I mean.
They know how to handle the content so that is up to them.. I can't be too bothered vetting each post they will ever make.

I'll look at your actual suggestions tomorrow, thanks.
