    Should be almost straight away.

    I doubt it :D

The handicap committee will likely contact you and ask you to have a meeting with them. Ask you a few questions and issue you your handicap. You should receive your GUI card a few days later by post.

This is the procedure. Whether they go that route is another matter.

Since the time you handed in your qualifying cards, I would suspect roughly 10 days.

May I ask what club you are attached to?

What goes on at these interrogations meetings as a matter of interest?
    What kind of questions?

    The basic principle:
Hand in 3 cards, signed by an existing full member with a valid handicap.
3 cards get adjusted so the worst score on any hole is a double bogey.
    Add up these adjusted cards.
    Take the best one.
Subtract the SSS from that score.
    Voilà (sort of).

Of course take into account any other info like a previous handicap... a run of good holes that suggests a better ability... yada yada but that's about it.

I'm surprised a club of Castleknock's stature didn't follow the guidelines.

    Great for you though ;)
