Hey all, got a new slim yesterday, I copied saved data (FIFA 11) onto a USB thumb drive from my old phat one. Copy it over and start Fifa and get 'this user is not allowed use this data, game data will be deleted.

A quick google suggests logging into my PSN account, but since the fooking thing has been down for >3 weeks now, I cant sign in, how will I copy over my save data? I just want to play Career Mode to tide me over till PSN is back :(

I'm in the same predicament with Gran Turismo 5 .It says my data will be deleted if I try to play it on the slim.I suppose we are just going to have to wait or you could just start a new career mode.

Yeah its looking that way alright, had a look at Data Transfer Utility but that deletes all the data on the source PS3 (Phat one), do not want that to happen.

If you have your old one - use the backup utility and then restore it to your new ps3 - worked smashingly for me.

No, it deletes any data on the new machine so that the new one becomes essentially a carbon copy of the old one. I did it with mine a while back. Took a couple of hours but copied everything across and I've had no problems using my old profile/saves with any games on my Slim.

Ah right, its grand anyways because PSN is back up so I can put my save data on any PS3 and use it so long as im signed in on my own (original) profile.
