Acca/CAT/IATI conundrum

Hey guys, just wondering if some one can give me a bit of advice with regards to accounting exams.

I’m currently working as a credit analyst and would like to do professional exams to back up the title. I know for a definite that a pure accounting career is not for me so therefore the ACCA exams really wouldn’t suit.

However, when I rang the ACCA earlier on today for some information they advised that the CAT exams would be worth doing. My supervisor at work is trying to push me into the IATI and my house mate has just told me about the new diploma in Accounting and Business from the ACCA……

So as you can imagine with all these courses being thrown at me I’m really confused as to what route to take.

As I said earlier, the likelihood of me going into accounting is slim to none. My current role involves analysing credit reports and occasionally P & L/Balance Sheets submitted by our customers.

I’m suppose I’m just really looking for a solid course which will help me understand/read balance sheets more intensely and is a step up ‘preparing a balance sheet’ courses . I’m working FT so part time/distance learning would better suit.

Any advice would be greatly welcomed as I really don’t know my head from my tail with all these courses

    Hey Kaykay
The New ACCA Foundations course and the IATI are more or less the same and either sounds like what you are after. They tend to be 2 year courses and are tough enough. The IATI is more established in Ireland as the ACCA course is very new. Check out the IATI website www.iati.ie and ACCA www.accaglobal.com
