The only time I notice that happening is if I leave only 2 numbers selected on the guide. An error seems to put the guide to Info channel by default.

I did read you can change the setting for the time it takes to input numbers.

    For what boxes?

I have asked this question before, and the only think at the time was to block the channel so you wouldn't have to hear the dude again.

Op it happens when you dont enter the 3 digits for the channel quick enough.

I hear the audio the second i click the first of any 3 digit channel number.
I didnt know you can block the info channel. Is this still available to do?. I have a new HD box.

As an aside. I needed to electrical tape the reciever bulb on the box because the remote was going haywire because of apparant confusion with the background lights on the LED tv. It works to a good extent but you have to be a very sharp shooter for it not to change to the 100 info channel.

I have the same problem as the OP. It also happens when using the + and - buttons to cycle through stations. Must be a software bug.

Its a big issue I have with UPC's software. On NTL boxes, you can start dialling the number and it will allow you as much time as you need to complete dialling. On UPC boxes you are literally in a race against time to enter the channel number - because if you take your time, enter too many digits, or generally make any kind of mistake - up pops the Info Channel with that annoying as hell voiceover. It is genuinely my number one gripe with UPC's software (number two being the sluggish-as-hell grid view) and spoils software that is in general much better than the old NTL software (anyone remember "gathering data"???)

I have a HD box and the issue still exists - if you dont change the channel quick enough it locks to the info channel and the only way to change from the info channel is to use the +/- keys - numerical input is non- responsive.

    Extremely annoying,

It's really annoying... they've already got my money so why are they constantly pestering me?

They should fix this problem as it's a huge issue for many older / less able to type users.

I think it's actually having a direct impact on accessibility !

My grandmother finds it almost impossible to change channel on UPC, so she always has to scroll through the channels rather than directly entering them as she cannot dial fast enough!

We don't drag up old threads. Even ones about really, really, really annoying problems.
