Android Rom and Warranty

I asked over in the vodafone forum if changing the Rom on my Android phone would invalidate the hardware warranty. Apparently yes

What do you lads think about this? Is it fair that they would refuse to fix a faulty button or something because of a different android rom has been installed?

Has anyone here successfully argued a case against this?

Flash it back to a stock rom and say nothing

I'd say its fair enough. For all they know the ROM might have disabled the button. I know it didn't, you know it didn't and they know but to prove it they have to test it. Unless it's hanging off, how can they prove without testing that the ROM didn't cause the problem.

To which you might say, sure so what it'll only take an hour. Multiply that by hundreds.

Easier to have the policy. If they have to support phones with custom ROMs it'll end up costing them (and that means us) more.

But like PogMoThoin says, flash it back and say nothing or if you can't (because the button is needed for the flashing process) try sending it back anyway.

I'll flash it back to the original Rom and see what happens.

    Cheers lads.

EDIT: The problem with the button is still the same with the original stock rom.

Well I got it fixed by reverting back to the stock rom.

    Faulty button repaired. :)

Installed the latest FRESH ZODIAC FRUIT Custom ROM and its like a whole new phone.
