The little one pushed a coin (5 cent only) into my Passat CD player and I want to eject it. I realise I am going to have to probably take the player out but do I need demounting brackets and if so where can I get them?

5 cent coins are magnetic I believe, so might get lucky with a strong or thin enough magnet..? reckon the coin might be conductive also, so I wouldnt hang around in trying to get it out

What year is the Passat? Is it the standard Radio?

    1

Open the hood to access the Passat's battery. Loosen the bolt that holds the negative battery cable clamp around the negative battery lead post. Lift the cable from the battery terminal and set it aside, away from the battery leads. Return to the inside of the car.
    2

Place each of the four DIN removal keys into the slots at the corners of the CD player. Each key has a plastic-coated ring at one end and a triangle-shaped metal point at the other. Slide the keys into the slits so that the flat edge of the tips is facing out, with the slanted side of the key facing in.
    3

Push each key into the opening until it clicks into place. Feed a string (such as a shoestring) through the two rings of the DIN removal keys on the left side of the CD player. Feed a second string through the rings at the ends of the keys on the right side.
    4

Pull both strings, sliding the stereo unit from the stereo mounting dock in the Passat's dash. Grab the stereo once you've pulled it out far enough to grip it by hand. Pull the CD player from the mount far enough to reach the wiring connections at the back of the player.
    5

Unplug the harness adapters from the left side of the CD player's rear panel. Disconnect the FM antenna cable by pulling the lead from the outlet on the right side of the stereo's rear panel.

DO NOT stick a magnet into your radio

Well a strong magnet is not good for electronics, and I doubt it would pull the coin out

Suppose he could try a knife, but then he risks damaging the CD Player
