    I think it means call forwarding is active.

    try dialing ##002# and see if it gets rid of it.

    I'm pretty sure it's call forwarding. I don't know why but it always shows up on three (even though I've never set up call forwarding).

    I've disabled it before by going into the call forwarding setting but always shows up again later.

    Are any of you using hullomail ?

    I also have the same icon but its only since I started using hullomail, I guessed this is becuase my calls are forward to the hullomail voicemail service ?

    Welcome to the iPhone on 3 dude :D:D, ha ha it's a known issue, I think it happens because of the whole using Vodafone Network when theres no 3g coverage but it will also happen when you switch between airplane mode, theres a whole thread on it in the talk to 3 forum, get use to it you'll be seeing a lot of it (every couple of days I get it)
    another option is to go to settings, phone, call forwarding. It will show you no and the icon disappears.
    A fun game you can play is how long can you leave it on your phone before it annoys the sh*t out of you and you get rid of it, I think i've lasted an hour or two!
