No car insurance - no claims lapse?

Hi, if I'm insured on no car for a period of about 5 months but have 7+ years no claims, when I go to re-insure myself, will my no claims record still stand?
Whatever the answer is, is that the same with insurance companies across the board?

Yes. Your NCB is valid for up to two years after your last insurance policy ended.

Quinn told me that if I waited more than 6 months to take out a new policy, my NCB would be reset to zero, but that was back in 2005. I think it depends on the company- might be worth giving your insurer or broker a call.
