    Looks like a challenging course..

    Details:

    This is the inaugural Caughoo Howth Summit 10km Challenge road race. The event takes its name from the local horse Caughoo who won the 1947 Grand National Race at Aintree. Caughoo was owned by JJ McDowell who was a former player, club captain and president of Suttonians RFC.

    The event is to support Suttonians Rugby Football Club (established in 1924) and the IRFU Charitable Trust (Irish Rugby Football Union Charitable Trust was formed in 1978 to assist severely injured rugby players in their everyday lives, and help to restore their confidence and independence).

    The scenic route is a challenging10km course, commencing at St Fintans Church, Sutton, going all the way up Carrickbrack Road, right at the Summit Shop, right again onto Baily Green Road and up to the Summit Car Park (turnaround and aid/water station) and then back down on the same route.

    Registration will take place at 17.30 in Suttonians RFC opposite Sutton Dart Station where parking, changing and shower facilities are available.

    Registration will close at 19.00 sharp to allow participants a short walk/jog to St Fintans Church car park which is the start location. The finish line will be on the grass verge opposite St Fintans Church.

    On completion of the race participants will jog/walk through Sutton cross to Suttonians R.F.C (approx 500 yards) where changing facilities and tea/coffee, biscuits and full bar will be available. Prize giving will take place at the club.

    On the night: €20 (limited)

    3rd €20

    Women’s Senior
    1st €50
    2nd €35
    3rd €20

    Men’s/Women’s Masters o/40
    as above.

    There will also be a barbeque at Suttonians RFC on the night for participants, friends, family and supporters (reasonable prices for food and drink).

    The members bar will also be available on the night.

    The hill on Bailey Green Road to the Summit car park is hardcore! :eek:

    Very tough first 5km followed by a easy downhill second 5km!

    Bit close to the Clontarf Half Marathon but might sign up for the challenge.

    Its a good route.

    I do it once a week.

    that final stretch up to the car park is a killer but its short and sharp.

    Once up there its all downhill!!

    Will give this a miss, not too worried about the climb but worried about hurting something in the legs on the way down!!
