Iphone 4 simfree question

My employer pays for my business basic Nokia mobile for years on a business contract with Vodafone and the phone has free Irish calls landlines, mobiles and free texts, i have no internet or no mms service on it.

I was considering buying myself a simfree Iphone 4 but someone told me my current Vodafone sim cannot be easily swapped for a micro sim to use in the iphone.

Is this true as i was hoping on availing of the free calls and texts on it from my work sim?

A micro SIM is exactly the same as a regular SIM but just cut smaller. I don't see why vodafone couldn't swap out your current SIM for a micro to allow you the use of an iPhone. They are an iPhone seller and I'm sure they've had to do this for customers already.

There is an ask Vodafone section here. You should ask them.

There are tools which allow you to make your own micro SIM, you can also find some tutorials on Youtube and do it by yourself if Vodafone say that they will not do it.

Just make sure that you add some kind of a monthly data bundle to your account because if you do data a la carte it will cost you a bomb. Don't kid yourself that you'll only use an iPhone for voice and SMS.

Vodafone will swap your details over to a micro SIM (I've done it). I can't see how the type of contract would make a difference. It's the same principle as getting a new SIM when the old one quits working.

Correct, it's no different to what happens if you lose your phone, they disable the old SIIM and assign the new one to your account. I don't know about Vodafone but I know that O2 allow their retailers to give free replacement SIMMs to business customers, I keep a couple in the boot of my car in case I lose my phone and need to get reactivated in a hurry.

Might be a thing though where the op is not authorised on the account to do this. My boss had to authorise me on the account to do stuff he can't be arsed with. So if any of our guys needs anything, they have to get me to do it so there's no messing going on
