Anyone know when the timing belt should be changed on an 05 focus. Salesman says 150k but seems a long time before a change :eek:

Ford say 100k miles/160kms but if you want to be safe approx every 80kmiles or 5/6yrs;)

As above, Ford specify 160,000kms or 8 years.

Alot of the latest cars have long timing belt intervals because of improvements in the technology and materials used over the older belts.

Thanks for the info boardies, I thought 150k seemed a bit long but seems okay if it is the recommendation from Ford.:)

I am looking at buying a 05/06 focus and most have between 45-65k miles on the clock. One had its timing belt done at 60k but others didnt.

Mechanic told me 70k and have gotten two different answers off ford garages in Dublin (100k & 120k)...WTF

The interval depends on the engine type, what engines are you looking at?

The listed interval is 160,000kms or 8 years but most would recommend having it done sooner then that.
