Do you trim/shave/wax your chest?

Well lads, do any of you trim, shave or wax your chest?

I've always had a hairy chest and have absolutely hated. Stomach is also a bit hairy, but it's very fine hair and it's also very fair so it's virtually invisible unless you are standing close to me. So it's only the top half of my torso that is hairy!

I've always hated it, hated the way it stuck out over the top of t-shirt/shirts/polonecks so a while back I started trimming it. Just recently I shaved it for a few weeks, but it seems like a lot more upkeep this way than just trimming it, even though I prefer it like this.

Does anybody else trim their chest hair or am I alone?!

I was just going to start a thread on this...

I don't, I'm a pretty hairy guy, chest and stomach, its black/dark as well so you can see it grand!

I know a few guys who do, I don't understand why, you would nearly have to wax it or else you will have stubble.

No don't do anything with my chest hair. If I wasn't keen on it though I'm sure I'd shave it or get it lasered possibly.

OP (or anyone else for that matter) out of curiosity why do you hate it so much?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,817 ✭✭✭✭Dord

I've trimmed it, otherwise it looks 70's style... I'm a hairy mofo. :pac: :p

im more concerned as to why the OP has gone and created a guest ID to start a thread like this.

are you embarrassed or afraid someone will recognise your user ID ??

I get my chest hair waxed when going on holidays - dont have a whole lot, just a bit from nipple to nipple and down the front, 1 or 2 loose hairs on my shoulders/back.

what odds does it make about the op now? they posted this thread 3 months ago.

personally, i'm not interested in waxing / shaving my chest / legs / misc. couldn't be bothered with the upkeep.

I always think its a bit metrosexual or David Beckhamy to have a shaved chest!!

I was gonna start one asking the same thing, but I used the aul search function, its hardly a zombie thread.

Initially I used to trim it and then switched to shaving.About 3 years ago I bit the bullet and started getting it waxed.I get it waxed once every 6/7 weeks now.Like you,it's my hatred of a hairy chest that makes me get rid of it.

trim it yeah, the bit right in the middle grows more than the surrounding moob areas so it looks stupid so i trim it to keep it even, takes like 2 mins with a trimmer, hope in shower, done for another few weeks

I love a hairy chest on a guy, it's one of the sexiest things about a man in my opinion. Plus it's a gorgeous sensation against a naked body I think.

Wouldn't want him to shave or wax either, the friction of the hair growing back would put me off, it'd be like having sex with a giant brillo pad.

I've been known to get the chest and back waxed in the past. Last time I did it was for the honeymoon and not been bothered since. To be honest no matter how much I scrubbed I always ended up with a few in growing hairs.

Although the wife found a chest hair on me the other day that must have been about 6 or 7 inches long! Heck if I chopped it up and transplanted it to my head it would have gone a long way to solving my baldness :P. How it got that long I've not a clue.

My boyfriend doesn't have a lot of it, just a little from nipple to nipple and down slightly, but it's hidious and I wax it off for him.

However, I leave the trail from his bellybutton down, cause that's hot.

    I really couldn't deal with a boyfriend/OH having a hairy back. Eugh.

I trim it with hair clippers, i don't like it shaved tight or too long. I hate in it now when it grows back too much tho.

Wait so if you go bald on top it doesn't translate into hair loss on body? That's pretty unfair to be honest!

Not at all, I read somewhere that most guys who experience hair loss tend to be hairier on their chest etc.

Chest hair no. Cousin got it waxed by his wife about 2 years ago and he said was driven mad by the itching of growing back and ended up with like little spots on his chest until it grew back proper.

Trim. Don't wanna have a boy-chest but gotta keep the fuzz under control too.

What I've found to be the perfect compromise is buy a cheaper clippers set from Argos, about 15-25 quid and every 2 weeks or so just quickly run a 1 blade over my chest. Only takes about 5 minutes to do and it keeps it short enough that the hair isn't "ugly" but long enough that it doesn't look waxed / shaven, and most importantly it doesn't lead to in-grown hairs like a poor shave / waxing can.

Does that not make it a bit bristly/stubbly?

It's a fairly shíte razor and because it's just a quick run over it doesn't resemble a 1 like you'd see on a haircut as it doesn't fully catch the hairs, much more like a 3-4 you'd get from a barber. That length just long enough that it doesn't have the stubbly feeling but not so long it's noticeably hairy. It would vary though razor to razor.

    No, it's just wrong.

Tried once the legs, never again. Never.

    Chest - trimmed.
    Back - hairless.
Legs - hairy as The Lord's beard.

I've got a very hairy chest and back, and while a hairy chest is manly and awesome, a hairy back I'd consider fairly mank.

I used to run a razor over my back but it's way too much hassle so I've now started buying tesco hair removal cream which is AMAZING. The first time took a few goes to get it all off but now it's just put a little on for about 5 mins every few days then shower and the hair just falls off. It's also much easier to reach those difficult parts like the centre of the back than getting a razor in there.

That said it does feel like you've gotten a sunburn for a few hours after but it's good as new by the next day. 4.65 a tube anyway

I've found the same, a hairy back and shoulders annoys me for some reason and its pure awkward trying to shave with a razor.
