Two Queries Regarding Ford Focus

    Ok guys first up,
I was cleaning car out last Friday and changed Oil. And well made the critical mistake of forgetting to put the cap back on and didn't notice until today (Tuesday). I only spotted it when I could smell burning at random times and decided to check. And when I checked it the engine had alot of oil over engine etc.
So immediately I put more oil in to restore up to its previous level and put on a temporary cap until I get a proper one.
The car itself seems fine except when I'm driving at times the engine seems to get a jump if anyone understands what I trying to say. (It like it lacking power at times a bit)
So can anyone advise me what should I do and will it be ok?

    Query 2:
I'm also looking to selling the car at end of June as I emmigrating and was just wondering what price would be reccomended for selling the car?

The car is a Red Ford Focus 5 door, In immaculate condition, Serviced recently, Has CD player, Taxed until August and NCT until 10/12
Oh and it a 2002 with 120k miles

I reckon you could get €1700 to €2000 for that.

the lack of power could be the coil pack starting to fail or if there was oil in around the plugs it could affect it too, give it a clean up and see how it goes

Thanks was wondering that and gave Oil a rub around plugs using tissue but would a blast with hose harm the engine.
And should everything be alright once I've got the replacement cap.

I done the very same thing a few months back, I was lucky the cap was still sitting on the battery though!!!

Gave it a good clean and it was fine. It may take a bit of driving to lose the smell of burning oil though :(

Thanks Drummerboy and when I clean it out can I use water or is that a bad thing just for washing out around the plugs etc

I just used some kitchen roll to soak up the excess oil, then cleaned around the rest with a damp cloth.

I'd be very wary of using a hose around the engine bay etc, very easy to knock wires out of place.

Just use good oul fashioned elbow grease!

Take a look down on the back of the engine. It's possible that part of the burning smell could be the plastic cap melting on the exhaust manifold, if it had dropped down there.
If it's a 1.4 or 1.6 zetec petrol, I have a spare cap. Pm me if you want it.
