Bluetooth Car Kit vs Blutooth Stereo

OK so I've been reading a few of the previous posts on car kits for the iPhone but to be honest I'm no closer to deciding on the best solution for using my iPhone 4 in the car.
I had my mind set on getting a bluetooth car kit installed and some sort of cradle to allow me to put the phone somewhere accessible whilst driving.
I'm now considering getting a bluetooth stereo instead and wonder what peoples experiences are with these?? What is the sound quality like compared to car kits??

    Thanks in advance.

I had a bluetooth stereo in my last car (Sony BT 4700) and the call quality was not great on the move to be honest. It had a built in mic on the front panel of the stereo which was not very good. My advice would be that if you are getting a bluetooth stereo, get one with a seperate mic that you can run to the roof lining of your car.

It depends on the car I guess and how far away you are from the stereo. I drive a golf and I fitted it with a Sony MEX-BT2700 and the voice quality has been very reasonable, I never had trouble understanding people or being understood. It was definitely a step up from the bluetooth hands free kit I was using before.

The Parrot MKi9200 is, imho, the best Bluetooth device for iPhone / Car compatibility. It's a bit more expensive but is definitely worth it.

It's for a Ford Galaxy; judging by what's being said I'm leaning towards a car kit.

I've looked at the Parrot MKi9200 and the price is a bit off-putting. Any cheaper alternatives that delivers decent call quality??

I use a Jabra Cruiser visor mount with my iPhone. Call Quality is decent and it works fine with Internet radio apps etc.

agreed..especially for playing music through it...works out around €280 fitted..just make sure that you clarify that you want it wired for music as well as phone.
Otherwise some lazy bastard might just wire it for phone which basically is only one speaker and thus useless for music playback.
They got it right the second time though ;)

When I was looking for a kit and didnt want to spend over €150, I bought one of these

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-Solar-Powered-Bluetooth-Car-HFB-500/dp/B001N7RCGO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305286521&sr=8-1

It is pretty darn good actually. And only cost €25 and has no trailing power leads because its solar powered, and it works with the iphone.
