So Roy has a go a plastic paddies playing for Ireland. So I was thinking, what about his children then?

    Wiki states:

Keane is married to Theresa Doyle, and they have five children: Shannon, Caragh, Aidan, Leah and Alanna. The couple met when she was a dentist's assistant and he was playing for Nottingham Forest in 1992. They married in Mayfield, Cork in 1997.

I think he's married to a wife with irish parents and his children have gaelic/irish names. I guess he considers his kids English then? I would find it funny if he doesn't, I always find interesting when people who criticise plastic paddies are the same people who leave Ireland for the first time, have kids and 10 years later those kids are wearing ireland tops holding irish passports because daddy told them to.

Look at Robbie Keane, he had to even get his child to be born ireland ffs, even though he will sound like/and may feel like an Englishman 20 years from now.

There's a lot of hypocrisy in this sometimes, I enjoy looking forward to Roy Keane's kids playing for England then.

Only if they do become footballers of course?

Hes probably referring to people like Jermaine Pennant trying to get a call up because his granny or something was Irish.

But hey, go ahead and have a go at Roy Keane if it makes you feel better.

I'm sure he tosses and turns at night as he ponders this conundrum.

I really don't think we should be discussing people's kids on here.

They are entitled to privacy regardless of who their parents are.

It was pretty clear he was aiming his criticism at players who recently have searched to find some ancestry so that they can play international football even though they feel no particular connection to the country in question, his criticisms are fair enough in my opinion considering the players are doing so for selfish purposes rather than a desire to represent a particular country.

So how do we decide who is genuine and who is using the system to benefit their own agenda?

They would be Irish...you would think with the amount he has, plus a wife, and a dog he would get the attention he needs rather than resorting to stuff like this every few weeks.

This has to be one of the most pathetic reasons to start a thread that I have ever seen.

Why not simply ask it in the other thread?

Their own agenda is to play international football, the FAI's agenda is to have a large pool of talent to choose from, I don't see a problem.

There's an issue of nationalism, for instance, if we beat England it might lessen the victory for some if half the team were effectively England rejects, but that's another discussion I suppose.

Roy Keane wrecks my head these days, I hate to say it because I loved him as a player, but I can't understand why a man who had the career he did sounds so bitter.

It depends what country they were born in.

    Duh.
