You have to advise social welfare office of any work that you do. If this was last month, then you will have received an overpayment, and they will want to be repaid by reducing your payment accordingly.

See here about overpayments, the general rule is that they can't leave you with less than the SWA rate each week, so if your only income is Jobseekers, then they will only be able to deduct 2 Euro a week from your payment.

If you only worked on a Sunday, then you will not lose a cent.

If it is not a Sunday, then the first 20 for each day will be disregarded, which leaves a balance of 130, of which 60% is deducted from your claim. This would mean that you would lose 78 euro for each day that you work that week. If you worked more than 3 days in the week (not including Sundays) then you would lose your whole payment for that week.

    Do you get rent supplement?

You'll lose 78 euro for each day that you worked at those rates. If you worked 5 days over the period, then you'll have been overpaid 390.

If your only income is now Jobseekers, the maximum they can deduct off your claim without your agreement is going to be 2 Euro a week, although of course you're free to agree to pay it back quicker. Of course they could theoretically prosecute you for failing to inform them, although with such low figures, and if you approach them first, this is unlikely.

I was working last and coming out with less than €140 total a week (combined job seekers allowance and income, less PRSI and PAYE etc), so know how working can be almost like you are being penalised.

I hope you get the whole thing sorted out, best advice is to go asap to declare things yourself, as should you be found out, as previous poster said, you could get into trouble, and loose rent allowance, and medical card, if you are in posssession of that.

Perhaps the best option for you is to look into the Work Placement Scheme that runs with FAS, then you can work (keep up with skills and get experience for CV), while trying for a job.

Hope it goes well for you
