Nobody's biting over in the swimming forum, so figure I'd check here with the wetsuit clad swimmers :)

Has anyone swum across between the end of the pier at dun laoghaire and the end of the south wall? Is it practical to do with the tides etc.? (looks to be about 4-4.5k between them).

I read that one earlier. I havent swam that route myself. I know last year there was a dublin bay swim but it wasnt advertised - v low key but did alot more than the route above.

What Id say is that its very doable - although it'd make sense to persuade someone capable in a kayak to lead you across. The safest route (to avoid any small yachts from Dun Laoghaire ) might be to head for shore and then hug the coast passing blackrock, seapoint and into the 'white' wall. This would also provide a number of 'out' options should an issue arise.

The timing and tide would be important - recently the wind has been from the south so Id imagine the swell hitting the south wall would have been fairly big. You'd obviously want the wind coming from the north or north west and an incoming tide imho.
