Replaced iPhone back housing, I think it's $%&£ now...

My dad has an identical iPhone 3g to me, and we always take each others phones by accident, so I got a white cover. I went to install it, but found the people in China put the wrong screw holes into the housing, so the screws won't "bite". So I went to put it back in my old iPhone case, which after a lot if tinkering, went in. Turned it on, was delighted to see the Apple logo and it booted up. When it said "Swipe to unlock" the touch screen wouldn't work, so I went to switch it off, instinctively swiped my finger across again, and it worked. I assumed I must have left something plugged out so I opened it up again, checked it, but it won't boot now. I wore an anti-static wristband the whole time and made sure I was grounded. The only thing that works now is the vibration motor when you switch it to silent.

Not recognised by pc or by charger.

    Help?!?!? :(

I feel you pain, I replaced my cover and its a right f***er of a job NEVER AGAIN:mad: Plug it into you charger, do you see the charging icon or anything? If I were you I would open her back up and take out the board, when you put it back in check the board is touching the battery contacts properly. Then obviously connect all the cables to the board when it back.

I had an issue where phone would turn on and then reboot and then would power on when plugged in but reboot almost straight away. I grabbed a new battery and its perfect now(although wifi is fairly busted) does everything it used to for the most part.

Nope, will do what you said though. I've a feeling that it's not broken, just not put together properly. I did break my first gen iPod touch a few years ago (damn smashed screen after ten days, at least they're plastic screens now that don't shatter) and I had a different feeling about it, I knew I had broken it. Any other suggestiong or pictures of the inside of an iPhone 3G 8gb would be greatly apprieciated!

Touchscreen works, but it won't charge and the homebutton doesn't work :( 14% battery left....

Both of those are on the same ribbon cable apparantly, should I open it and check. I really don't want to open it again. What ribbon is it does anyone know?

Okay, just an update, iPhone will charge when turned off and I can sync it using WiFi sync whenever it decides to work. Have replaced the dock but that hasn't worked.
